Take your own headshot
Updated: a day ago
As I'm constantly looking to evolve into this new normal of ours, and move any services I can online, I've decided to offer remote headshot services.
"How the hell is that going to work Elton!"
You book your spot.
We schedule in a 20-minute Zoom video call.
I direct you during this call. The direction will include:
Camera position (in relation to your face)
Pose direction for the perfect headshot
You then take the images (in RAW mode, see below for more)
Send the images to me.
I edit them professionally and return them to you in original aspect ratio as well as square format for use across your social media channels.
Preparing for your remote headshot photoshoot?
There are a few requirements to get the best headshot. Please ensure to perform these steps prior to our Zoom call as there's no opportunity to overrun.
A laptop with Zoom installed.
A newish smartphone with a decent camera (doesn't have to be the newest model)
A tripod or phone cradle holder if using a smartphone that can be height adjusted. Or another member of the household if there is one.
WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger on the phone you will use to TAKE THE IMAGE - I will call you on this to check the lighting, camera distance, composition and direct you into poses.
Good lighting, ideally near a window. Artificial lighting can also be used but we want to keep the noise/grain down as much as possible in the image for clarity.
A clear, and clutter-free background.
Shooting in RAW/DNG mode. New Samsung Sx phones allow you to set this in the camera app settings (see this video for help how to turn on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPC25yw7Cw4). For iPhone users, you can either use Adobe Lightroom CC (free) or one of the many paid apps, including Manual and Halide. For other makes/models please get in touch to ensure your camera supports shooting in RAW/DNG mode or has an app available that will allow it.
A DropBox/Google Drive account to share the images you take with me.
A calm demeanour because I assure you that you will enjoy the experience.
So if you are in need of a new headshot but unwilling/unable/don't have the budget to commission a photographer, then get in touch and let's get you noticed online!
How much does it cost?
It's £29 which includes the 20-minute zoom call and full, professional-level editing of 2 images of your choice with either black or white background. If you wanted additional images edited these will cost £12 each.
